Richmond Hill's Frequently Asked Questions
Physiotherapy faq
  • What is physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy is a holistic approach to healing. Our trained therapists use nothing but their hands and their vast knowledge to aid in getting rid of your aches and pains.

  • What can I expect when I make an appointment?

When you come to our office, we begin our simple step-by-step process of ensuring your path to being healed is easy. Below are the 4 steps we take:

    1. Exam and Diagnosis. We take the patient’s history, form a hypothesis, perform tests to prove that hypothesis correct/incorrect, and then decide on the most effective treatment/create a treatment plan.
    2. We minimize pain. This is when we use the special laser/shockwave therapy.
    3. We work on the deeper muscle for stability. This will focus on the muscle that was damaged.
    4. We work on the larger muscle for stability. Depending on the goal, we help to make sure you are ready to return to work or return to sport so that you will not get injured again.
  • Is shockwave therapy painful?

Shockwave therapy is completely painless. It is when a high-intensity sound wave is transmitted from the skin to the tissues. You can have many sessions with no pain whatsoever - the only sensation you might feel is a little tingle.

  • How does a standard massage differ from a prenatal or postnatal massage?

A standard massage differs from a prenatal or postnatal massage in the different techniques that are used. These techniques are due to the fact that there are many anatomical changes women undergo during pregnancy. A prenatal massage is very safe for both mom and baby.

  • What are some of the other treatments available at Awesome Physiotherapy?

At this location we offer a wide variety of services like shockwave therapy, back pain therapy, and a varity of massages. We also offer acupuncture at this location only for your benefit and relaxation.

  • Do you accept my insurance coverage?

Lots of clients will see their therapist multiple or weekly times per week. Without medical insurance coverage, expense expenditures can include up quickly. Check with the practice to make sure you are covered, and understand your deductible. Understanding your monetary situation upfront may affect your choices about your treatment.

  • Will I see the same therapist?

All treatment centers are not the very same. While lots of people will see one therapist for each of their issues, others will rotate companies or receive some treatments from physiotherapy assistants. Make sure you best understand their staff policies to make certain you are comfortable with them.

  • How will physiotherapy treat my condition?

Every client and injury is distinct. A customized treatment strategy will help you to remain on track and achieve your goals effectively. Make certain the therapist discusses what type of activities you will take part in and how to do them correctly. In addition, find out if you will need to do some workouts in the house.

  • How quickly will physiotherapy help me feel better?

Some clients will need several months of treatment to go back to full function and movement. Others need just a couple of weeks of rehabilitation. Ask about your anticipated recovery time at your initial assessment. Your physiotherapist needs to give you regular updates about your development.
