Spinal decompression is a non-invasive back pain treatment. It uses motorized traction that works by slowly stretching the spine to create negative pressure along the spinal discs. These are gel-like cushioning substances found in-between the spinal bones.
As a result, herniated or bulging discs will retract to the correct alignment. This takes the pressure off adjacent compressed nerves and other structures. Besides eliminating pain, this will promote the efficient movement of oxygen and nutrient-rich fluids to the injured areas, speeding up healing.
At Awesome Physiotherapy, we use spinal decompression to treat different conditions including:
Sciatica
Back and neck pain
Posterior facet syndrome
Herniated or bulging discs
Spinal stenosis
Degenerative disc disease
Diseased or injured spinal nerve root
Before beginning the therapy session, our certified physiotherapists will take note of your body weight, the condition of your spine, your medical history, and more. This enables us to track your treatment progress accurately. Afterward, you'll lay down on the decompression table fully clothed. A harness will be put around your hips that will connect to the lower part of the table for support. Then, the therapist will control the lower part of the table to slowly move back and forth while the table's top part remains fixed. This takes the pressure off your misaligned spinal column. The result is a vacuum that forces your bulged discs to retract to their optimal position. The process is safe and effective on your spine. Depending on your treatment plan, you might require more than one treatment session. Each typically lasts 10-30 minutes.
At Awesome Physiotherapy, the wellbeing of our patients is always our top-most priority. We want you to find quick relief so that you can live your life happily and pain-free.
